APPLICATION INFORMATION
All qualified program applicants will be reviewed following completion of their general admissions process. Full admission to the program is contingent upon completion of the required next steps as outlined below. When these steps are completed, applicants should expect a program admission decision in approximately 6 weeks. Should the program reach capacity, students will be placed on a waitlist. Students admitted into the program will receive information by e-mail regarding required next steps such as background checks, drug screening, immunizations, physical examinations, health insurance, CPR, etc. Students must ensure submission and approval of all required documents prior to August 1 for Fall Admission, January 1 for Spring Admission, and May 1 for Summer Admission. If the submission requirements are not met the student may need to withdraw from the program and another student will be admitted in their place. *Students applying to the RN to BSN program must either have already successfully completed or be in the last semester of an ASN program.
The Fairmont State University College of Nursing strongly supports the standards of the West Virginia Board of Registered Professional Nurses and the American Association of Nurses. Applicants are advised that their conduct before and after submitting their application to the College of Nursing will be considered in the admission process. Irresponsible behavior or conduct denoting questionable moral character will include, but not necessarily be limited to the following: • Criminal activities - e.g. DUI, misdemeanors, felonies • Substance abuse - e.g. manufacture, use, distribution, positive results on drug screen • Cheating/dishonesty • Harassment • Domestic violence • Discrimination • Breach of patient confidentiality Students are advised that their conduct while students both on and off campus could result in dismissal from the program.
