APPLICATION DEADLINES
Fall Admission Priority Deadline: January 15th
Spring Admission Priority Deadline: May 1st
The College of Nursing will begin the review of all qualified applicants after the priority deadline. Students should expect a decision regarding their admission status approximately 4-6 weeks after the deadline. Students may continue to apply after the priority deadline but will only be reviewed if spots become available.
Students provisionally admitted into the program will receive information by e-mail regarding required next steps such as background checks, drug screening, immunizations, physical examinations, health insurance, CPR, etc. Students must ensure submission and approval of all required documents prior to August 1 for Fall Admission and January 1 for Spring Admission. If the submission requirements are not met the student may need to withdraw from the program. If you need to make changes to your application, please contact the Office of Admissions at admissions@fairmontstate.edu.
The Fairmont State University College of Nursing strongly supports the standards of the West Virginia Board of Registered Professional Nurses and the American Association of Nurses. Applicants are advised that their conduct before and after submitting their application to the College of Nursing will be considered in the admission process. Irresponsible behavior or conduct denoting questionable moral character will include, but not necessarily be limited to the following: • Criminal activities - e.g. DUI, misdemeanors, felonies • Substance abuse - e.g. manufacture, use, distribution, positive results on drug screen • Cheating/dishonesty • Harassment • Domestic violence • Discrimination • Breach of patient confidentiality Students are advised that their conduct while students both on and off campus could result in dismissal from the program.
The ASN program meets the requirements for initial licensure, following graduation, as an RN in WV. Some states may have additional licensure requirements for new graduates. Students who plan to obtain their initial licensure in a state other than WV should review the information posted on our website entitled Licensure Disclosure (https://www.fairmontstate.edu/admit/licensure-disclosures ) to make sure that the program will meet the requirements for the state in which you want to sit for your initial licensure.
