Apply today to part of the Datha and Gene Program at Fairmont State University, this program is designed to introduce first-generation college students to Fairmont State University and to equip them with the skills they need to succeed in college. During this program, personal connections and mentorship will be the key focus. Accepted applicants must attend the 5-day immersive bridge fellowship the week before class starts for the Fall 2025 term where you will: • Reside in a residence hall • Develop college-level study and test skills • Learn about Fairmont State’s vast resources that enable success and foster mental and physical well-being • Meet your personal teacher-mentor • Explore the region though excursions that include shopping, entertainment, and outdoor adventure • Complete Orientation for Fall semester (this is when you schedule your classes) • Make friends and have fun! Applicants to the Datha and Gene Smith Program must: • Be a West Virginia resident • Be must a 2.5 cumulative high school GPA • Be accepted to Fairmont State (to do that, get started at www.fairmontstate/admit). • Have their current year Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) completed and sent to Fairmont State University (2024-2025 FAFSA has been delayed, students are welcome to apply without completing the FASFA, once you have completed the FAFSA, we will update your records).
